About Us
Bihar Urdu Academy is engaged in the promotion, propagation & development of Urdu Language and Literature in Bihar. With a view to promote Urdu lingual culture and encourage exchange of ideas and experiences, it organizes Seminars, Mushaira, Cultural programmes etc. at various occasions. It provides financial assistance to publish creative writing for the needy Urdu writers. Under educational and training programme, it provides scholarship to Urdu students and supplies books to Urdu medium schools and libraries. Urdu Language was born out of the Indian soil. Urdu poetry, in a great measure, inspired millions to make sacrifices in the long drawn out freedom struggle and it remained most popular language for centuries together. It has carved out a niche at the national level by introducing innovative and pioneering schemes to popularize Urdu language. The role and effective functioning of the academies has become important in the context of rapid developments taking place on the cultural and literary fronts. Much can be done by the academies to stimulate original writing and research through subsidies or grants. They could offer greater incentives for the writings and publication of books on social and physical sciences and for other functional literature which could prove helpful to readers in the choice of professions and in earning a livelihood.
